10 Also ward der Gottesdienst5656 beschickt3559; und3548 die Priester stunden an ihrer Stätte und die Leviten3881 in ihrer Ordnung5977 nach dem Gebot4687 des Königs4428.

11 Und3548 sie schlachteten7819 das Passah6453; und die Priester nahmen von ihren Händen3027 und sprengeten, und die Leviten3881 zogen6584 ihnen die Haut ab.

12 Und taten5414 die Brandopfer davon, daß sie5493 es5930 gäben unter die Teile4653 der Väter Häuser1004 in ihrem gemeinen Haufen, dem HErrn3068 zu opfern7126, wie es geschrieben3789 stehet im Buch5612 Mose4872. So taten sie5971 mit den Rindern1241 auch.

13 Und sie6944 kochten1310 das Passah6453 am Feuer784, wie sich‘s gebührt. Aber was geheiliget war4941, kochten1310 sie5971 in Töpfen5518, Kesseln1731 und Pfannen6745; und sie machten‘s eilend7323 für den gemeinen Haufen.

14 Danach aber bereiteten3559 sie auch für sich3559 und310 für die Priester3548. Denn die Priester, die Kinder1121 Aaron175, schafften an5927 dem Brandopfer5930 und3548 Fetten2459 bis in die Nacht3915. Darum mußten die Leviten3881 für sich und3548 für die Priester, die Kinder1121 Aaron175, zubereiten.

15 Und die Sänger7891, die Kinder1121 Assaph, stunden an ihrer Stätte nach dem Gebot4687 Davids1732 und Assaphs und Hemans1968 und Jedithuns3038, des Schauers des Königs4428, und die Torhüter7778 an allen Toren8179, und sie5493 wichen nicht von ihrem Amt4612, denn die Leviten3881, ihre Brüder251, bereiteten zu3559 für sie.

16 Also ward beschickt3559 aller Gottesdienst5656 des HErrn3068 des Tages3117, daß man Passah6453 hielt und Brandopfer5930 tat6213 auf5927 dem Altar4196 des HErrn3068 nach dem Gebot4687 des Königs4428 Josia2977.

17 Also hielten die Kinder1121 Israel3478, die vorhanden waren4672, Passah6453 zu6213 der Zeit6256 und das Fest2282 der ungesäuerten4682 Brote sieben7651 Tage3117.

18 Es war4672 aber kein Passah6453 gehalten in Israel3478 wie3644 das, von der Zeit3117 an Samuels8050, des Propheten5030, und6213 kein König4428 in Israel3478 hatte6213 solch Passah6453 gehalten, wie Josia2977 Passah hielt, und6213 die Priester, Leviten3881, ganz Juda3063, und3548 was von Israel3478 vorhanden war, und die Einwohner3427 zu6213 Jerusalem3389.

19 Im achtzehnten6240 Jahr8141 des Königreichs4438 Josias2977 ward dies Passah6453 gehalten6213.

22 Aber Josia2977 wendete sein Angesicht nicht von ihm, sondern stellete sich5437, mit ihm zu streiten3898, und gehorchte8085 nicht den Worten1697 Nechos5224 aus dem Munde6310 Gottes430; und kam935, mit ihm zu streiten3898 auf6440 der Ebene1237 bei Megiddo4023.

23 Aber die Schützen3384 schossen den König4428 Josia2977. Und der König4428 sprach559 zu seinen Knechten5650: Führet mich hinüber5674, denn ich bin sehr3966 wund2470.

24 Und seine Knechte5650 taten ihn7392 von dem Wagen4818 und führeten ihn auf seinem andern4932 Wagen7393 und brachten5674 ihn gen Jerusalem3389; und er starb4191 und ward begraben6912 unter3212 den Gräbern6913 seiner Väter1. Und ganz Juda3063 und Jerusalem3389 trugen Leid56 um Josia2977.

Chapter 35

1 MOREOVER Josiah kept a passover to the LORD in Jerusalem; and he celebrated the feast on the fourteenth day of the first month.

2 And he set the priests in their charges, and appointed them over the service of the house of the LORD,

3 And he said to the Levites who dwelt in all Israel. Sanctify yourselves to the LORD, and put the holy ark in the house which Solomon the son of David king of Israel did build; for you have no longer to carry it upon your shoulders; serve now the LORD your God and his people Israel,

4 And prepare your hearts and the heart of your fathers, according to the writing of David, king of Israel, and according to the writing of Solomon his son,

5 And stand in the holy place according to the divisions of the families of your fathers and of your brethren the people, and after the divisions of the families of the Levites,

6 And kill the passover and sanctify yourselves and prepare the hearts of your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

7 Then Josiah gave to the people sheep, lambs, and kids of the goats, all for the passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, and three thousand bullocks; these were of the king's substance.

8 And his princes gave willingly to the people and to the priests and to the Levites; Hilkiah and Zechariah and Nehiel, rulers of the house of the LORD, gave to the priests for the passover offerings two thousand and six hundred sheep and three hundred oxen.

9 Conaniah, also, and Shemaiah his nephew and Hashabiah and Jadiel gave to the Levites for passover offerings five thousand sheep and five hundred oxen.

10 So the service was prepared, and the priests stood in their places and the Levites in their courses,

11 And they killed the passover according to the king's command, and the priests sprinkled some of the blood.

12 And the Levites flayed the victims and gave the burnt offerings to the divisions of the families of the people, to offer to the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses. And so they did every morning.

13 And they roasted the passover with fire according to the ordinance; but the other holy offerings they cooked in pots and in caldrons and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.

14 And afterward they prepared for themselves and for the priests, because the priests the sons of Aaron were busied in offering the burnt offerings and the fat until the Levites were through; then the Levites prepared for themselves and for the priests the sons of Aaron, who ministered.

15 And the singers the sons of Asaph were in their place, according to the commandment of David, and Haman and Jerithon, the king's seers; and the porters remained at every gate; they might not depart from their service; for their brethren the Levites served them.

16 So all the service of the LORD was prepared the same day, to keep the passover and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of the LORD, according to the commandment of King Josiah.

17 And the children of Israel who were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of the unleavened bread seven days.

18 And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests and the Levites and all Judah and Israel who were present in Jerusalem.

19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept.

20 After all this, when Josiah had prepared the affairs of the temple, Pharaoh the lame king of Egypt came up to fight against Mabog by Euphrates; and Josiah went out against him.

21 But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with you, O king of Judah? I am not coming against you this day, O king of Judah; for indeed I have not come to fight against you. The LORD has told you to frighten me; cease from meddling with God, who is with me, that he may not destroy you.

22 Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him; for he had gone to fight with him. And he did not listen to the words of Pharaoh the lame; for Josiah did not know that it was from the LORD, so he went forth to fight against him in the plain of Megiddo.

23 Then Pharaoh the lame shot two arrows at Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Take me away; for I am severely wounded.

24 So his servants took him out of the chariot, and put him into his own royal chariot; and they brought him to Jerusalem, and he died and was buried in the sepulchres of his fathers. And all Judah and Jerusalem mourned for Josiah.

25 And Jeremiah lamented for Josiah, saying, All righteous men and righteous women, weep in your lamentations for Josiah. And he made them an ordinance in Israel, to this day; and, behold, these lamentations are written in the Book of Lamentations.

26 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and his goodness, according to that which is written in the law of the LORD,

27 And his deeds, first and last, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
